Building Artist Community
June 30, 2020 @ 6:00PM — 7:00PM Eastern Time (US & Canada)
Workshop for musicians led by Mary McFaul and Wes Weddell.
Building Artist Community and The Magic of Collaboration
The life of an artist is very personal and can sometimes feel solitary and a bit lonely. It is often difficult to share the trials and tribulations and even the joys of creation with friends and family who are not artists themselves.
Building a community of fellow musicians, writers, painters, sculptors, etc. can provide a lively and comforting space in which to create, explore new territory, make mistakes in a safe space, share and compare information and possibly…discover collaborative partners.
It is a daunting thing to establish yourself in the world of music. What makes you unique? How do you stand out from the crowd? One way to step it up is by creative collaboration.
In this conversation you will be encouraged to think outside the box. Who can you partner with to bring an unexpected dimension to your music and performance? Another musician playing an instrument no one would expect? (Tuba instead of bass!) Creating a piece of music based on a piece of artwork? Write a song based on a well known novel? The sky’s the limit! Let’s get the ideas rolling and see what we can come up with – you will be in good company and who knows, you might find a collaboration pal.
This workshop is co-hosted by Mary McFaul and Wes Weddell.
